All models come with an optional Fleece roller and are fitted with a hydraulic steering system that tucks the unit in behind the tractor for travel on roads and through gates
The process of turning organic waste; everything from yard trimmings, woody residuals, bio solids and manures, into compost involves moisture, heat and acids which can be highly corrosive.
To improve the overall life of an OZ Series Windrow Compost Turner the entire tunnel is made from painted galvanized steel.
The roof is also painted galvanized steel eliminating any large pooling area where compost can accumulate, get wet and then cause corrosion.
The heart of an Oz Turner Windrow Compost Turner is the drum and paddle design that efficiently breaks up and mixes your compost ingredients while providing maximum aeration and product blending.
Water can be easily added to the compost windrow using the Oz Turners Compost Turner built-in watering system.
The watering system is maintenance free and is not over complicated leading to a thorough mix.
A side mounted trailing arm makes it simple to attach an Oz Turners Water Wagon (optional extra) for on board water supply.
Utilizing a hydraulic steering system means the Oz Turner Series of Windrow Compost Turners do not need to use power robbing counterweights that can add up to 4000 kg to the Compost Turner or an expensive towing system to enable the unit to pass through gates or travel down access roads, the hydraulic steering will simply steer the turner in behind the tractor like a trailer.
The Draw-bar can easily be folded as shown here for transport or storage.
All Oz Turner Windrow Compost Turners are fitted with front and rear rubber guards, the front guards stop any foreign objects that may be in the compost from hitting the rear of the tractor while the rear guards stop valuable compost material being thrown back away from the compost windrow when first entering the windrow.
The design and thickness of the rubber guards also allow the turner to form perfectly shaped windrows.
Side scrapers also make sure no material is left unturned.
An Oz Turner Compost Cover System is available as an optional extra if required allowing windrow covers to easily glide over the rollers without the need for removing the covers from the windrow.
Soil Fodweb International under its "SFI Accreditation Programme" its has assessed that the compost turners produced by OzTurners and marketed exclusively by GroundGrocer:
• mix the compost thoroughly, increasing the levels of dissolved oxygen and decreasing the levels of carbon dioxide (produced by microorganisms in the compost)
• are able to water evenly
• do not miss any part of the pile (especially at ground level)
• mix thoroughly (outside surfaces to inside) without pulverising

Why buy this Windrow Compost Turner ?
- Protective rubber flaps to stop flying debris and direct it back to the windrow.
- The side scrapers are long, adjustable and shaped to be of maximum efficiency in moving the excess on the sides back into the windrow.
- Square tubing is used for structural reinforcement and strength. Prevents the turner from twisting or going sideways in a heavy windrow. The tubing also ensures the longevity of the machine as it holds everything together and in place. Protects the roof from caving and the machine from buckling.
- Design has incorporated a double spiral of the drum knives to ensure balancing even under very adverse conditions such as an extremely dense, large windrow.
- Extended knife holders 2 inches longer provide extra holding strength
- Drum knives made of hardened steel are 2" shorter and reversible. Turning the knives at ¾" ensures longer performance and that the windrow remains clean right down to the ground, no possibility of a smelly anaerobic layer forming.
- Superior to all other windrows in that the designers have listened carefully to leading Soil Foodweb Soil microbiologists and understood why the "flicking" motion and full aeration RIGHT DOWN TO THE BASELINE of the compost pile takes place
- The gearboxes are also protected and are part of the machine, not a separate large box.
- The drum has been tested in a live situation where rice was thrown into the windrow, after one turn, samples were taken from various parts of the windrow and placed onto a clean surface. It was immediately evident that the mixing was very thorough with even distribution throughout the windrow.
- Laboratory tests of compost produced using the turners show the most life-forms - the full ecosystem of the Soil Foodweb.
- The smaller machines (model OZ-X1800 and model OZ-X2700) can be towed on most roads so it is not necessary to lift them.
- The fleece roller makes using the fleece cover a simple operation. The fleece is picked up by the roller, as the drum turns the compost and then gently dropped to cover the windrow. The fleece covers help to control the compost cycle and enhance the quality of the compost. They are beneficial in wet and hot, dry climates. In wet climates or rainy seasons, the covers keep the excess moisture out of the windrow and in hot, dry climates/seasons they keep the moisture required in the windrow and protect the microbes from the hot sun.
- Optional watering systems inject water, innoculants or liquid slurry into the windrow. The systems may be hooked up with an optional tow bar, which pulls a water wagon or may be connected with an extended hose to a reservoir.

dont hesitate these machines are terrific
I have seen many compost turners over the years and heard many claims about them.. the groundgroce team and thier manufcaturing partners have listened to the advisors they have sort out before constructing this machine, soil biologists, agronomists, compost workers, farmers and collated all the feedback and sugestions into one new machine..it combines the best of the sittler and aeromaster machines but takes the design to another evolution. Lynton and his team are terrific to work with and will help you in purchasing the best machine for your needs and then making great compost.. a word of warning..their are some other businesses within australia selling machines from canada. once you buy the machine from them they loose all interest and you have no support or help. stick with an ethical group and australian amade.
