    Product Description

Recycle all your food waste - even meat!

Small and compact enough to keep in your kitchen, the Bokashi Man compost system takes all the waste you can‟t put in a worm farm or are troublesome to compost. Meat, fish, citrus, onion, dairy products, etc even bones! (Bones still have a lot of nutrient in them; after you bury the Bokashi compost, the bones will eventually surface, just pick them out then, easy).

Bokashi is a mixture of bran and rice hulls that have been fermented using a combination of effective micro-organisms (EM), which are naturally occurring.

Simply spread Bokashi over food waste in the Bokashi Bucket each day.  The effective micro-organisms wake up from dormancy and start a fermentation process that preserves the waste and stops it from rotting.  Fermentation enhances the nutrient value of the waste while the effective micro-organisms allow the nutrients to be more readily available to plants.  Fermentation also prevents the waste from rotting and putrefying, which means no foul odours or insects!

Drain the Bokashi juice from the bucket weekly and use as a liquid fertiliser.

From the time a bucket is full it needs to ferment for a minimum of one week.  Once fermented, your waste will still look the same, however, the lignin bonds (fibre) will have been broken to enable the waste to complete its breakdown.

Simply bury the waste in your garden to achieve the highest benefit and in 4-6 weeks it will have broken down into humus that's rich in nutrients, microbes and enzymes, ideal rich soil for use in your garden.  Dig a trench 0.5m x 0.5m and 0.3m deep, pour in the waste and cover with soil.

    Why 2 buckets?

You do have a choice once your first bucket is full, you can do nothing for a week while Bokashi compost ferments (not good), transfer the contents to another container (very messy) or have a second bucket! The longer you leave the contents to ferment the more Bokashi juice produced!

    What you can recycle:

    • Fresh fruit & vegies
    • Prepared foods
    • Cooked & uncooked meat, even bones
    • Seafood, even prawn shells & heads
    • Cheese, eggs, bread
    • Coffee grounds, tea-leaves, tea-bags
    • Wilted flowers, kitchen paper towels, tissues

This Double Bin Kit comes with 2 Bokashi Buckets + 2 Bags of Bokashi powder (0.5kg each)
